The AH-64 Apache is a twin-engine, four-blade attack helicopter developed by McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing). It has been in service since the 1980s and is one of the most advanced and heavily armed attack helicopters in the world.
The crew sits in tandem, with the pilot sitting behind and above the co-pilot/gunner. Both crew members are capable of flying the aircraft and performing methods of weapon engagements independently. The AH-64 is powered by two General Electric T700 turboshaft engines with high-mounted exhausts on either side of the fuselage.

Engineers designed the Apache to withstand hits from 23mm rounds. They built its airframe with crashworthy and damage-tolerant features and equipped it with self-sealing fuel tanks to reduce the risk of fire. Additionally, its rotor blades can continue functioning even after taking hits from small arms fire.
