M249 Designed Sound – Modern Weapons SFX Library
The M249 Designed Sound is the sound of the M249 light machine gun (LMG), also known as the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW). It is gas operated and air-cooled, it has a quick-change barrel, and a folding bipod attached to the front of the weapon. The M249 provides infantry squads with a high rate of machine gun fire, combined with the accuracy and portability of a rifle. M249s have seen action in major conflicts involving the United States since the U.S. invasion of Panama in 1989. In 2009, the U. S. Marine Corps selected the M27 Infantry Automatic Rifle, to partially replace the M249 in USMC service. In 2022, the U.S. Army selected the Sig Sauer XM250 to replace the M249.
The M249 Designed Sound demonstration uses 3 combined “Start” + ”Loop” + ”End” sounds, then 4 random “OneShot” sounds for close distance. And 3 combined “Dist_Start” + ” Dist_Loop” + ” Dist_End” sounds, then 4 random “Dist_OneShot” sounds for far distance. All the sounds in this preview as is the library, without processing. In addition, you can hear a similar sound from our projects for Unity and Unreal Engine. Please find links for example on our site or on our Youtube channel.
