The M2 Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) was developed by the United States to serve as both a troop transport and a combat vehicle, capable of engaging enemy forces while protecting its crew. It was introduced in the early 1980s and has since become a key component of U.S. armored units.
The M2 Bradley is heavily armored, featuring spaced laminate armor that provides protection against small arms fire, artillery fragments, and some anti-tank weapons. It is also equipped with reactive armor for additional protection. The vehicle is powered by a Cummins VTA-903T diesel engine, which provides it with a top speed of approximately 66 km/h and a range of up to 483 km.
The Bradley’s primary armament is the 25mm M242 Bushmaster chain gun, which is effective against both infantry and light armored vehicles. It also carries TOW anti-tank missiles for engaging heavier armored threats, and a 7.62mm coaxial M240C machine gun for close-range defense. The Bradley can carry a crew of three—a commander, gunner, and driver—and up to six infantry soldiers in its rear compartment.
