The Challenger 2 is a British main battle tank (MBT) developed by Vickers Defence Systems, now BAE Systems, and has been in service since 1998. It is designed to be highly protected, featuring Chobham armor, which is known for its effectiveness against both kinetic and chemical energy threats. The tank is equipped with a 120mm L30A1 rifled gun, capable of firing a variety of ammunition, including armor-piercing rounds.
The Challenger 2 is powered by a 1,200 horsepower Perkins CV12 diesel engine, allowing it to reach speeds of up to 59 km/h (37 mph) on roads.
